Summer Exhibition

For the past 176 years, the Summer Exhibition has been a venue for young and experienced artists to display their work in various mediums and genres.

Anyone can submit their art to the Summer Exhibition, the world’s oldest open submission exhibition. For the past 176 years, Royal Academicians, such as Grayson Perry, Yinka Shonibare, and Jock McFadyen, have organized the show.

New works by Royal Academicians and Honorary Academicians, as well as artists like David Hockney RA, Wolfgang Tillmans, and Tracey Emin, have been included in the show in recent years.

To provide a diverse range of work by recognized artists, up-and-coming artists, and first-time exhibitors, the Summer Exhibition includes works chosen and hung by Royal Academicians. Non-academics created nearly two-thirds of the works on display in prior years, prizes totaling £50,000 were given out, and over 5,000 pieces were sold.

At the Summer Exhibition, you’ll be able to witness everything that’s going on in the art world right now. From up-and-coming artists to some of the most well-known names in contemporary art and architecture, this exhibition showcases the best of what’s new. From painting to sculpture to photography to printmaking and even architecture and video are all on display at the Summer Exhibition, which has been running for over two centuries. One of the year’s most important exhibitions, it provides a unique perspective on contemporary art.
